Library Philosophy Statement

The South Mountain Community College Library supports the philosophy of South Mountain Community College and of the Maricopa County Community College District to provide lifelong learning opportunities for all students and members of the South Phoenix community.

The SMCC Library serves the educational, informational, recreational, and cultural needs of the students, the staff and faculty, and the multicultural South Phoenix community by providing human, equipment, and material resources in a setting that encourages learning. The focus of the library is on the planned and purposeful integration of its resources and services with the SMCC instructional program. Resources are available in all appropriate formats and information is disseminated through the most efficient and accessible systems.

The SMCC Library reaches beyond its walls by providing innovative programming which endeavors to address the learning/self-growth needs of all the community, regardless of age, and assist with the integration of the college within the lives of its immediate community.

The SMCC Library philosophy incorporates the ALA Library Bill of Rights (English) (Spanish).
