The executive decision has been made to install login software on all computers in South Mountain Community College's Library and Computer Commons. This will allow the college to gather data so that existing and future needs of our students and community members may be budgeted for and addressed.
Beginning April 13, 2009, all SMCC students, employees and community members will need to use their MEID usernames to access the computers in the library. All Maricopa students and employees have been given an MEID. If you do not remember your MEID, you can locate it by using this link, https://eims.maricopa.edu/MAW/MAW.html
SMCC employees and other MCCCD employees will need to have their MEID’s added at the Library Circulation Desk or the Computer Commons Desk before they are able to log in to the computers in the Library or the Computer Commons.
Community members who do not have an MEID will need to complete an adult community application form in order to obtain an MEID. Spanish version here.
Once the form is filled out, patrons should bring the form and proof of residency to the Circulation Desk. This card will replace previous SMCC Library community borrower's cards. There is no charge to replace the cards.
The following options may be used to show proof of residency:
Driver’s license or permit School ID + proof of residency (see below)
State issued ID Passport + proof of residency (see below)
Military ID Tribal ID
If the valid picture ID does not include a current Maricopa County address, residency may be demonstrated with an envelope or bill, addressed to you and received at this address via U.S. mail in addition to one of the above picture ID’s.
Those under 18 must complete a parental permission form. A parent or guardian must accompany the child and show proof of residency as described above at the time that an MEID/community borrower’s card is obtained for the child.
A parent or responsible adult should always be present in the SMCC Library when their child is using library computers or other resources. (MCCCD policy Section 2.4.10)
Please carry your SMCC ID/community borrower/computer account access card when using the Library facilities.
Steps for Logging In
-
Log in using the LibUser or LibClass username and password depending on which computer area in the Library you are using. [Passwords are attached on the upper left corner of each computer monitor.]
-
Type in your MEID at the user login screen that appears next.
-
If the keyboard is left inactive for 2 minutes, your session will time out. There will be a warning after 1 minute of inactivity before logoff occurs. If your session is logged off, simply log in again immediately to avoid losing your work.
-
If you are working on creating documents, it is always a good idea to save your document regularly to an external storage device such as a flash drive to avoid loss of your work.
-
ALWAYS LOG OFF at the end of your computer session.
